What's Your Talent ?

I'm on the right side and my friend is on the left .

Not so long ago , my church organized an activity - an activity known as , yup you guessed it , a talent show . At this talent show , my friend and I decided to create a rap song . We had created one previously about our families just for fun - so we thought , hey , why not ? Well let me let you in on a little secret . . . we can't rap . Quite frankly , we aren't very good at it - however , we decided it would be something fun to do with our time . After all the lyrics weren't too bad . Long story short , we sang our rap song in front of our church at this talent show and guess what ? Everyone LOVED it .They couldn't stop laughing . Not because we were bad , but because of our lyrics . We had made the lyrics about the Bishop , his counselors , and their wives . Things they probably didn't know about - fun things and little quirks about them . It was a great way to get to know them and for the audience to get to know them as well . After the performance , my friend and I felt great ! Not only had we made people laugh , and had ourselves a good time , but we developed a new talent ( even if we weren't very good at it ) .

So here is where I get to my point . In the scriptures it talks about developing and practicing our talents . Whether they be playing the piano , being artistic , singing , running , anything ! It can even be something small that we don't always think about - like making people smile or laugh, or having a talent of making conversation . It can be anything . Whatever the talent , it makes you who you are - so why not make it better ?

So here is my question for you bloggers out there - What talents do you have ? How can you improve upon those talents ? And if you don't know what your talent ( s ) is then try new things and figure out what it is . You'll never know what you can do until you put your mind to it . Imaginary Friend

This is yet another poem written by , that's right , the one and only , ME . It's not perfect but I am pleased with how it turned out . This is another piece that I wrote while in school . Enjoy~

Imaginary Friend

We played together all the time –  
never left one another’s side.
We made mud cakes
decorated them with grass sprinkles.
I pushed you on the swing
because you couldn’t push me.
We played hide-n-seek and I’d always tag you.

You were my best friend
 while we watched the other children play.
One day as we giggled and laughed,
mommy told me we couldn’t play so much.
I held on to you for as long as I could,
but eventually you began to fade.
As I grew older you were soon forgotten.
But to this day, I miss the times
when we would talk and play.
You’d never judge me.
Why can’t I find someone
like you?

The Greatest Friend Of All

 John 15 : 15

Henceforth I call you not servants ; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth : but I have called you friends ; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you .

This verse brings so much comfort to me . To simply know that He is our friend . How wonderful it is ! I can talk to Him through prayer and tell Him what is troubling me , or exciting me , or just talk . Talk about anything really . Even if it is just how my day went , I know He will listen because he cares about me - because I am a daughter of God . We are all children of God , so we are all His friends . I think so long as we let Him into our lives , the friendship will grow stronger . He is always there , just waiting for you to invite Him in . He loves you and He only wants what is best for you .

Over the years as I have come to find out who I am ( which I am still learning ), and the many trials that I have gone through - I find that my Heavenly Father and my Savior , Jesus Christ , were always there for me . They still are , and forever will be . 

So here is my question to you bloggers out there - If you have not let such a wonderful friend into your life , then why wait ? He is the greatest friend that you could ever have .

The "I Love" Challenge . . .

So recently I have been watching this series called Internet Icon on YouTube . Check it out if you don't know what it is , because it is pretty cool - but anyways ! On one of these episodes there is a challenge to make a new Youtube trend . One of the teams , known as The Kloons , decided to go with the " I Love " challenge. Basically what it is, is you post a video on Youtube of things you love from off the top of your head within 60 seconds . Since my options are limited and I am not able to make a video , I've decided to time myself and type some things I love within 60 seconds . Here it goes . . .

I love juice
I love oranges
I love my familly
I love dogs
I love pizza
I love mountains
I love trees
I love camping
I love tents
I love forests
I love cookies
I love my mom
I love the computer
I love books
I love friends
I love people
I love toilet paper
I love writing
I love singing
I love singing in the shower

So there you have it folks . Things I love off the top of my head , as random as they are haha . ( I went back through and fixed all the typos and made it look nice so that you can read it , but 60 seconds is a lot shorter than I thought ) So why don't you give it a go ? It's pretty fun , and if you can , why not make a video and put it on YouTube , or do what I did and blog it . I think it's a great trend to be started . Enjoy~

Monster In The Closet

Monster in the Closet

It’s dark in here .
I’m scared of the dark .

My big brother told me a story .
A scary story .
It was about a monster
that lived inside a closet .
The stories seem real .

The nightlight is gleaming
on the door
cracked open
ever so slightly .
My imagination is reeling
at what could be inside .

It’s dark in here .
I’m scared of the dark .
